Pittsburgh-based UPMC will host a special hiring event in New Castle, Pa., next week in support of employees affected by the closure of Ellwood City (Pa.) Medical Center.
The event is scheduled to run from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 18 at UPMC Jameson. Open positions include clinical and nonclinical roles.
"Whether you are an experienced nurse, a nonclinical professional, or anything in between, we want to help you find a place on our team," Eric McIntosh, vice president of human resources at UPMC, said in a news release. "We have positions available at our area UPMC hospitals, senior living facilities and outpatient locations."
Ellwood City Medical Center laid off 92 of its 171 employees on Dec. 5 amid financial struggles and a state order to cease inpatient and emergency services.
UPMC said affected workers are invited to come to the hiring event to explore job opportunities. The organization also noted the benefits it offers, and that UPMC Jameson in New Castle, UPMC Horizon in Farrell and Greenville, Pa., and UPMC Passavant in Cranberry Township and McCandless, Pa., are all near Ellwood City.
