Louisiana is the worst state for job hunters, according to an analysis by Zippia, a career search and employment services company.
To determine the worst states for someone looking for a job, Zippia used data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and the U.S. Census Bureau's American Community Survey to rank states on four criteria — year-over-year improvement in unemployment; current unemployment rate; year-over-year income improvements; and home to income prices (a measure of where income goes further). Researchers then averaged the rankings of all four criteria. States with the higher rankings were considered harder places to find jobs.
Here are the 10 worst states for people looking for jobs, based on the analysis:
1. Louisiana
2. Arizona
3. Kentucky
4. Mississippi
5. Alabama
6. Wyoming
7. West Virginia
8. Alaska
9. New Mexico
10. Connecticut
