New Mexico is now part of a new nurse licensure compact via Senate Bill 1, according to the Albuquerque Journal.
Republican New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez signed the legislation Thursday, one day before the compact was slated to take effect.
Under the compact, nurses with one multistate license may practice in New Mexico and other compact states, the Interstate Commission of Nurse Licensure Compact Administrators said in a statement. Nearly 30 states are part of the agreement.
