Healthcare added 15,700 jobs in May, with hospitals contributing 3,000 positions to that total, according to the latest jobs report from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The total marks a slowdown from the 27,000 jobs healthcare added in April.
Within healthcare, ambulatory healthcare services showed the most employment growth last month, adding 12,200 jobs. Nursing and residential care facilities added 500 jobs.
Overall, healthcare employment has grown by 391,000 jobs in the last 12 months, according to the bureau.
