Hospitals add 13,600 jobs in March

Healthcare added 49,100 jobs in March, with hospitals contributing 13,600 to that total, according to the latest jobs report from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The jobs boost is an increase from the 20,800 jobs the industry added in February and the 41,600 jobs added in January.

Ambulatory healthcare services showed the most employment growth last month, adding 27,000 jobs. Nursing and residential care facilities added 8,500 jobs.

Overall, healthcare employment has increased by 398,000 jobs in the last 12 months, according to the bureau.
