A hiring event is scheduled next week in Phoenix for workers who lost their jobs when Dallas-based Steward Health Care closed St. Luke's Medical Center, according to NPR radio station KJZZ.
Steward said it closed St. Luke's on Nov. 24 due to declining patient volumes.
The closure affected 655 employees, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act notice.
Next week's hiring event is scheduled for 10 a.m. Dec. 5 at GateWay Community College's Central City Campus.
While the hiring event is to help former St. Luke's Hospital employees, it's also open to others interested in a healthcare career, said Eric Jay Toll, communications manager for the city of Phoenix.
He told Becker's Hospital Review the city also offers resources to help people who need assistance with resumes or interview techniques.
