5 Michigan hospital staffers have contracted coronavirus since Halloween

Marlette (Mich.) Regional Hospital reported a COVID-19 outbreak affecting 1 percent of staff as of Nov. 2.

Five employees have tested positive since the outbreak was identified Oct. 31, according to the hospital. They live in three communities in two counties and have been removed from work, the hospital stated. Staff and patients who may have had close, prolonged contact have been or will be contacted and advised to get tested if necessary, the hospital said.

The hospital has not linked the outbreak to a particular unit.

Marlette Regional said it will continue contact tracing, along with infection control practices, visitor restrictions, and the staff and visitor health screenings that have been in place throughout the pandemic.

The hospital said it also routinely tests staff who work in its nursing home and the residents there.
