Baltimore-based University of Maryland Medical Center will send layoff notices to an unspecified number of employees by the end of the month, according to a report by The Baltimore Sun.
The number of affected employees is not yet finalized, but the layoff notices are set to be distributed June 25, 26 and 27, according to the report.
UMMC President and CEO Jeffrey Rivest said the job losses are one of the consequences of reimbursement changes facing hospitals across the nation, according to The Baltimore Sun.
