Kansas City-based University of Kansas Hospital and the Kansas University Nurses Association have filed a petition with the Kansas Public Employee Relations Board for a declaration of impasse, according to a Kansas City Business Journal report.
The petition states that neither the hospital nor the union are willing to budge after 15 negotiating sessions, and they are looking for a mediator to facilitate a resolution, according to the report.
Last week, the nurses union rejected the hospital's latest contract proposal over pay cuts for nurses working nights and weekends, as well as reductions to tuition reimbursement and paid time off.
The union is unable to strike due to Kansas Public Sector Laws.
