The key to employee happiness, performance and commitment to the company is actually pretty simple: recognize their daily accomplishments.
Professional networking site LinkedIn found employees are most focused on daily accomplishments at work, according to a Forbes report. In fact, more than one in five U.S. professionals would prefer a job offering recognition of their day-to-day accomplishments over a job with an extra vacation day, according to LinkedIn.
Information from a LinkedIn survey of 450 professionals indicated the majority of employees (58 percent) would have a better attitude if they received positive feedback on small wins. Many respondents (45 percent) felt appreciation of everyday achievements would motivate them to improve their performance and stay with the company longer (32 percent).
One-third of employees reported quitting a job because they felt underappreciated. For younger employees, those under age 40, feedback mattered even more: 37 percent reported quitting due to a lack of appreciation from their higher-ups, Forbes reported.
It's simple: acknowledge a job well done, an intermittent goal met or a quality interaction with a patient. Coming from management, co-workers and even patients, words of encouragement on a daily basis will improve employee satisfaction.
