Samaritan Hospital workers, community members rally over pay: 3 things to know

Workers at Troy, N.Y.-based Samaritan Hospital rallied this week for better pay in the local healthcare field, according to a report from The Record.

Here are three things to know about the rally.

1. The workers, represented by 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East, were joined by community members and Troy City Council president Rodney Wiltshire at the rally, which took place in front of Samaritan Hospital.

2. The workers are demanding better paying healthcare jobs in Troy, and asking hospital officials to agree to a code of conduct, which would allow workers to unionize without fear of intimidation from management, according to the report.

3. Becker's Hospital Review reached out to the hospital for comment on the rally, but had not received a response as of Thursday morning.
