More than 150 nurses and patient advocates marched this week to protest patient care conditions and proposed nurse staffing cuts at Salinas (Calif.) Valley Memorial Hospital, according to a Monterey Herald report.
The march, which took place Thursday, followed the same route taken by late labor leader Cesar Chavez, and was held in conjunction with a candlelight vigil, according to the report.
It's been about one year since contract negotiations began between the hospital and the California Nurses Association. A mediator has since stepped in, and a fact-finding report that will offer recommendations for both sides is due out April 29, according to KSBW. Negotiations are expected to continue April 27.
