Orleans Community Health workers, management reach tentative agreement: 7 things to know

Workers at Orleans Community Health in Medina, N.Y., and management have reached a tentative contract and averted a one-day strike that was scheduled for June 12, according to Buffalo Business First.

The workers are members of 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East, which represents 272 healthcare workers at Orleans Community Health.

Here are seven things to know about the contract, according to the union.  

1. Union members must ratify the contract before it becomes effective.

2. The three-year contract is retroactive to Jan. 1, 2015 and runs through Dec. 31, 2017.

3. The contract includes annual wage increases (retroactive) and maintained step increases.

4. The contract maintained shift differentials for registered nurses.

5. The contract increased shift differentials for workers in the service and maintenance departments as well as for licensed practical nurses and technical bargaining units.

6. The contract maintained the workers' Training and Education Fund.

7. The contract maintained workers' health benefits without any increases in premiums, deductibles or copays.
