Orlando Health Layoffs Continue

Orlando Health has confirmed more employees will be laid off as part of a restructuring the system announced in November, according to an Orlando Sentinel report.

In November, the system announced plans to eliminate 400 jobs in two phases: one in 2012 and another beginning after Jan. 1, affecting all of Orlando Health's eight hospitals. No specifics on how many employees would be laid off in this phase have been released, according to the report.

In addition to the layoffs, the system is also cutting differential pay for employees working nights, weekends and holidays, according to the report.

Orlando Health officials pointed to cuts in Medicaid reimbursement as the reason the restructuring and layoffs were made necessary, the Orlando Sentinel reported.
