Asheville, N.C.-based Mission Health has indicated it could sever ties with the company that employs more than a hundred physicians and nurses at Mission hospitals, according to a WCQS report.
In light of this news, the workers, which include 25 physician anesthesiologists, 96 certified registered nurses and about 20 additional people, are uncertain about the future of their jobs.
Here are four things to know about the issue.
1. Nonprofit Mission currently has a contract with the company AllCare. However, hospital officials told the workers they were looking at alternatives to extending the contract, according to the report.
2. Mission indicated it could sever ties with AllCare after it found out AllCare would be acquired by Surgery Partners, according to WCQS.
3. The health system is considering employing its own physicians and nurses, according to Mission President and CEO Ronald A. Paulus.
4. Mr. Paulus said in the report the company is posting jobs and that Mission has entered into an interim contract with AllCare that runs through the end of April "to ensure continuity for our patients."
