Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente employees, represented by the Service Employees International Union – United Healthcare Workers West, recently protested what they called excessive salaries and bonuses for executives, according to an Orange County Register report.
The protest occurred March 2 at a Kaiser board meeting in Southern California.
Kaiser spokesman John Nelson did not disclose the board's vote on executive bonuses or amounts to the Orange County Register, saying affected employees would be notified later in March.
The protest comes as the union, which represents about 18,000 Southern California Kaiser employees, is collecting signatures to put an initiative on the November ballot that would limit compensation of hospital executives to $450,000 a year, according to the report.
