Hospitals add 13k jobs in November

The healthcare industry added 23,800 jobs last month, contributing to the nation's 211,000 new jobs in November, according to the most recent jobs report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

This follows a large gain in October, when healthcare added 51,000 jobs. Healthcare employment has grown by 470,000 over the year.

Within the healthcare industry, hospital employment grew the most, by 13,400 jobs in November. Ambulatory healthcare services was next, with 4,200 jobs added. Most of those came from physician offices (2,700), but outpatient care centers (2,100) also contributed. Home healthcare services lost 1,600 jobs in November.
