Officials from Allentown, Pa.-based Lehigh Valley Health Network in Allentown, Pa., and East Stroudsburg, Pa.-based Pocono Health System have said no jobs are expected to be lost during their pending merger, according a report from the Pocono Record.
Lehigh Valley Health Network and Pocono Health System signed a letter of intent to merge on May 29, but the merger, which is subject to regulatory approval, is not expected to take effect until the first half of 2016.
"There are currently no plans to reduce staffing due to the merger," Lehigh Valley Health spokesman Matthew Burns told the Pocono Record. "Our vision is aligned with the Pocono Medical Center's vision and we want to grow and offer the best care we can for the community. Both of our organizations are committed to the highest quality care and staffing is based on many factors."
