Healthcare, hospitals add jobs in June

The healthcare industry added 21,000 jobs in June, making it a large contributor to the nation's overall employment increase of 288,000, according to the most recent jobs report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Ambulatory healthcare services contributed 13,000 jobs last month, while residential care facilities added roughly another 6,000. Hospitals added 2,200 jobs last month.

Healthcare has added an average of 18,000 jobs each month in the last 12 months. Since June 2013, employment in the industry has risen by 324,000 jobs.
