Nearly 40 Marin General Hospital imaging technologists picketed the hospital Tuesday in a conflict over wages and employee contributions toward monthly health insurance premiums, according to Marinij.com News.
Radiology Associates, the union that represents radiology CT scan, MRI and ultrasound technologists at Greenbrae, Calif.-based Marin General, said the picket did not involve workers walking off the job and was informational in nature.
In an official statement, Lee Domanico, Marin General Hospital's CEO, said the union rejected a proposal from the hospital that offered to give imaging technologists an immediate 4 percent wage increase with an additional 2 percent increase effective in October 2016 and again in 2017, if members agreed to make contributions to cover the cost of their health benefits. Contributions would amount to $25 pre-tax per pay period. Currently, Marin General Hospital pays for health benefits in full for all employees working 20 hours or more per week.
