Nurses from Crozer-Chester Medical Center started their two-day strike Sunday, while replacement nurses from a staffing agency started treating patients at the Upland, Pa.-based hospital, according to a report by The Inquirer.
The nurses, part of The Crozer-Chester Nurses' Association and its parent union, the Pennsylvania Association of Staff Nurses and Allied Health Professionals, announced their plan to strike earlier this month. The hospital and nurses have butted heads over staffing levels.
Crozer-Keystone Health System brought in replacement nurses and "is continuing to deliver high-quality patient care" at Crozer-Chester Medical Center. The replacement nurses are expected to work through Sept. 25, even though the strike is slated to end Sept. 23.
"We will welcome our staff nurses back as soon as their positions become available. This will probably occur on Friday, September 26," a hospital press release reads.
Hospital and union representatives plan to meet at the bargaining table again Tuesday.
