While some hospitals and health systems are implementing layoffs, others are hiring.
The following hospitals and health systems shared plans to hire workers or announced that they added positions in the past month, starting with the most recent.
1. 100 nurses to come on board for San Francisco hospital expansion
San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center, the city's largest safety-net provider, is hiring more than 100 registered nurses for its new $877 million inpatient facility.
2. Baton Rouge General adds 150 clinical positions
Baton Rouge (La.) General added 150 clinical positions at its Bluebonnet campus, where there are two new patient floors.
3. California VA hospital announces $20M in new hires
The Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Fresno, Calif., will use $20 million in additional funding to hire 86 new employees.
4. Premier Health looking to hire 520 workers
Dayton, Ohio-based Premier Health plans to hire 520 workers. The system, which operates four hospitals north of Cincinnati and plans to open the new Atrium Health Center-Mason (Ohio) later this year, is expanding and looking to fill a variety of positions.
5. 9 positions open at Emerson Hospital
Emerson Hospital in Concord, Mass., posted nine new job openings. The positions included care manager, director of behavioral health nursing, manager of infection prevention and control, nurse manager-endoscopy and senior director of revenue cycle.
6. 1,965 jobs open at Mayo Clinic
Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic has nearly 2,000 job openings, 527 of which are for registered nurses.
7. Akron Children's Hospital to hold career fair
To staff a seven-story addition opening this spring, Akron (Ohio) Children's Hospital announced it would hold a career fair and hire dozens of new employees.
