3 Most Desirable Characteristics in Quality Employees

Personality is the most important trait employers look for when hiring quality employees, according to a new segment of the ASQ annual Salary Survey.

The survey polled more than 2,600 global employers with quality positions in their organizations to document their perspectives on what they look for in job candidates.

Across all potential positions, employers mentioned personality most often, followed by years of quality experience and domain/industry experience. ASQ certifications, highest academic degree, Exemplar Global certifications and Six Sigma training were less important in hiring decisions.

Both in the U.S. and worldwide, managers foresee hiring quality engineers, technicians and inspectors, while very few are looking to hire executives, champions, directors, educators and black and green belts.

Approximately 41 percent of managers expect to hire a new employee in the next year, and 30 percent expect to hire a new employee within three months.
