The University of San Diego Hahn School of Nursing and Health Science will use SnapMD's virtual care management platform as part of its telehealth curriculum, the telehealth vendor confirmed July 11.
Here are four things to know about the telehealth curriculum:
1. The course, titled "Telehealth and Emerging Technology," aims to educate nursing students on telehealth etiquette, remote patient monitoring tools and patient privacy regulations, among other skills.
2. Students will use SnapMD's cloud-based telehealth platform to gain experience with virtual visits, digital exam rooms and EHRs, along with tools to continue to engage patients during the diagnostic, treatment and follow-up phases of care.
3. The curriculum will provide students with patient care simulations at the nursing school's Betty and Bob Beyster Institute for Nursing Research, Advanced Practice and Simulation, which is a facility that replicates hospital and clinic rooms for various patient encounters.
4. Jane Georges, PhD, RN, dean of the University of San Diego Hahn School of Nursing and Health Science, said in SnapMD's July 11 statement, "Our graduates in advanced practice nursing and healthcare informatics will be well-positioned to take a leadership role in providing high-quality healthcare using telehealth capabilities. This partnership is an essential part of our ongoing evolution into a School of Nursing which provides cutting-edge opportunities for our students."
