Teladoc Health has created a patient safety organization dedicated to virtual care.
Five notes:
1. The newly formed component entity of Teladoc is recognized by HHS as The Institute for Patient Safety and Quality of Virtual Care, effective May 8.
2. On behalf of other healthcare organizations, Teladoc's PSO will conduct quality and safety initiatives to improve the delivery of virtual care in the U.S.
3. The PSO will partner with other healthcare industry leaders, including large health systems and healthcare retailers, to support specific research needs and virtual care goals.
4. Teladoc's first initiative is to build upon existing antibiotic stewardship efforts that are ongoing in virtual care.
5. Other initiatives the PSO may take on include correlating diagnoses, treatments and outcomes, and analyzing various metrics shaping the patient experience.
