Teladoc achieved certified status for information security under the Health Information Trust Alliance's common security framework Aug. 11.
The HITRUST CSF is a comprehensive security framework comprising information protection standards from multiple industries, including healthcare. For example, the framework incorporates control requirements to demonstrate compliance with HIPAA based on a review of the HHS Office for Civil Rights' audit protocol.
The third-party certification validates Teladoc's ability to meet healthcare regulations and requirements for protecting its users' protected health information. To earn this certification, Teladoc underwent a six-month process comprised of randomized testing for 372 security controls.
