Hartford, Conn., residents will have a new option to receive healthcare where they shop.
Hartford Healthcare, in partnership with OnMed, launched a new form of healthcare delivery, according to a Jan. 4 press release shared with Becker's. The OnMed care station simulates a private physician's office, where patients are connected to clinical professionals for virtual healthcare visits.
The OnMed care station is located at the Killingly Stop & Shop in Hartford and provides users with easy access to care during their visit to the supermarket. Patients can use the Stop & Shop pharmacy for access to medications prescribed during their visit.
Patients are given treatment for many common illnesses, like heartburn, headaches and respiratory infections. For any ailments that the medical professional is unable to treat, the patient will be provided with a referral to another provider.
