North Carolina behavioral healthcare provider debuts 'virtual waiting room'

Durham, N.C.-based Carolina Partners in Mental HealthCare launched their virtual waiting room telehealth service, which allows patients to connect with providers on the same day.

Carolina Partners in Mental HealthCare has a telehealth program that enables patients to register for an appointment and communicate virtually with mental health providers within 48 hours.

The new virtual waiting room service functions like an online walk-in clinic, wherein patients can register and then enter a queue in the order in which they registered. They are seen by the next available provider, with no appointment necessary.

"The innovation piece of this program is that mental health care patients just aren't getting seen fast enough under the old models of appointment-setting," said Dr. Diego Garza, Carolina Partners' director of telemedicine services. "This is going to allow them to be seen the same day. No other practice that I know of is offering something like this for mental healthcare."

Carolina Partners in Mental HealthCare includes 145-plus clinicians offering psychiatric and psychological therapeutic services to patients across 36 sites.
