NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital in New York City partnered with health technology company Philips to add remote patient monitoring to its telehealth capabilities.
Under the agreement, NYP-affiliated physicians at Weill Cornell Medicine will be able to use two of Philips' remote patient monitoring software solutions — eCareCoordinator and eCareCompanion — to care for their patients. The goal of the program is to help clinicians establish more timely specialist consultations and interventions. NYP-affiliated physicians at Columbia University Irving Medical Center expect to participate in the new services as well.
"As the number of individuals living with chronic conditions continues to rise, hospitals and health systems need to innovate to best manage the growing demands on their resources," Derek Ross, business leader of population health management at Philips, said in a news release.
"NewYork-Presbyterian is pleased to collaborate with Philips to empower patients, who don't need to be in the hospital, to actively monitor their health from the comfort of their home," Peter Fleischut, MD, senior vice president and chief transformation officer at NYP, added.
