HHS awards $325k to Northeast Telehealth Resource Center in Maine

The Augusta, Maine-based Northeast Telehealth Resource Center received a $325,000 grant from HHS, Sens. Susan Collins, R-Maine, and Angus King, I-Maine, announced Aug. 14.

The funds were awarded through the Telehealth Resource Center Grant Program, an effort overseen by HHS's Health Resources and Services Administration. With the grant, the NTRC will continue its work to improve healthcare access in rural communities.

The NTRC provides education and technical assistance to healthcare providers throughout New England to support the use of telehealth. The organization's goal is to reduce disparities by strengthening the healthcare workforce's ability to deliver specialty care to rural residents.

"Telehealth can serve as a critical lifeline for Maine people living in rural communities throughout our state," Ms. Collins and Mr. King said in a joint statement. "It connects people to medical professionals and health services, making health are more accessible and more convenient."
