Fort Myers, Fla.-based Lee Health has introduced a telemedicine service utilizing asynchronous messaging, enabling patients to engage in real-time conversations with Lee Health physicians for a fee of $29 per visit.
The service, dubbed Lee TeleHealth e-Visits, provides treatment and prescription services to patients from their homes, according to a Nov. 21 news release from Lee Health. The service addresses minor conditions such as colds, rashes, bladder infections, eye pain, ear pain and sinus problems.
The visits include an online medical interview that adjusts based on patients' responses to questions. Upon submission of the e-Visit, patients receive a diagnosis and treatment plan from a Lee Health provider.
Following the patient's symptom disclosure, the details are recorded in the EHR, and the patient's interview along with the medical history is transmitted to the attending provider through a chart note.
The physician then assesses the diagnosis and devises an optimal treatment plan. Prescriptions are automatically submitted to the patient's chosen pharmacy, and a comprehensive care plan from the provider is accessible in an "after visit summary" on MyChart, according to the release.
