3 telehealth acquisitions disclosed within last 2 months

News of several telehealth acquisitions have made waves throughout the health IT space in recent months.

Here are three of the biggest telehealth acquisitions disclosed since April:

1. Teladoc acquired international virtual care provider Advance Medical in a $352 million deal comprising an estimated $292 million in cash and $60 million of Teladoc common stock May 31. The acquisition aims to strengthen Teladoc's international footprint, as Advance Medical works with 300-plus multinational employers and insurers across the U.S., South America, Europe and Asia.

2. InTouch Health, an enterprise telehealth platform, entered into an agreement to acquire telemedicine software company Reach Health in April to expand its market share. Earlier this year, InTouch Health also unveiled plans to acquire web-based telemedicine provider TruClinic. InTouch Health did not disclose the financial details of either transaction.

3. American Well entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Avizia in April. Under the agreement, American Well plans to create a combined enterprise telehealth platform to serve patients in the hospital and home care settings for urgent care, acute care, post-acute care and chronic disease management. The financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
