The Food and Drug Administration recently approved New York City-based Tyto Care's digital stethoscope.
The approval stems from Tyto Care's larger efforts to develop a cloud-based telehealth solution offering digital tools customers can use at home to examine the ears, throat, skin, heart, lungs and temperature, according to the report. The system can capture device data and send it to a physician of choice, in real time or prior to a telehealth consultation.
The company sees the digital tools, including the stethoscope, as the "missing link that will help telehealth realize its full potential," according to Dedi Gilad, CEO and co-founder of Tyto Care.
