President Donald Trump and Rep. Elijah Cumming, D-Md., spoke on the phone Wednesday about prescription drug prices, according to the Washington Examiner.
President Trump spoke with Rep. Cummings on Jan. 20 at an inaugural luncheon and requested the two meet to discuss the topic. Rep. Cummings is an outspoken advocate of government action to combat high drug costs and is open to working with the president to lower prices, according to the report.
A spokesperson for Rep. Cummings said the call was brief and only focused on drug prices, according to the Examiner.
The call occurred after Rep. Cummings appeared on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" Wednesday morning and repeated his interest in speaking with the president about drug prices, according to the report.
