Rapid City, S.D.-based Regional Health earned the Ascend Peak Performance Award for exceptional clinical and supply chain performance.
Regional Health represents one of four healthcare organizations in the country that received the award from Premier, a Charlotte, N.C.-based group purchasing organization.
The health system's warehouse and distribution center is operated by eight people who stock, pack and ship out supplies ranging from bed sheets to computer systems. The center sends out two semi-trucks of hospital supplies to Regional Health's six locations every day.
"Regional Health is uniquely located within the country. Our closest big major cities are 400 to 500 miles away. We don't have another healthcare provider across the street that we can borrow something if we're out," said Brad Haupt, Regional Health's vice president of supply chain. "So Regional Health is very dedicated to making sure we have the products we need when our patients need them."
