Pfizer on June 1 increased the U.S. list prices for nearly 100 drugs in its second price hike of the year, reports Financial Times.
Here are four things to know.
- The drug company boosted the price of 91 drugs by 5 percent to 13 percent, according to the report.
- Affected medications include the best-selling erectile dysfunction drug, Viagra, and the popular nerve pain treatment, Lyrica.
- At the start of 2017, the average wholesale price for a 100 milligram Viagra tablet was $57.94. The drug now costs $73.85, representing a 27.5 percent increase, reports Financial Times.
- Pfizer also raised prices for numerous drugs in January, bringing the average price increase per drug to 20 percent for 2017.
