Mobile supply chain solutions market to grow 13.2% annually through 2020

The smart and mobile supply chain solutions market was valued at about $7 billion in 2013 and is expected to rise at a calculated annual growth rate of 13.2 percent from 2014 to 2020, according to a new report from Transparency Market Research.

For the report, Transparency Market Research analyzed historical data on the smart and mobile supply chain solutions market and used it to map its expected market trajectory through 2020.

1. Analysts divided smart and mobile supply chain solutions into two main types: software and service. Software includes transportation management systems, connected warehouse management systems, connected sourcing and procurement, connected supply chain planning, connected manufacturing execution systems and connected analytics. Supply chain services include consulting, management and integration.

2. Transportation management systems and warehouse management systems are expected to demonstrate significant growth in the forecast period due to increasing demand for agile warehouse management and volatile fuel prices, according to the report.

3. The growing acceptance of an organized supply chain is driving demand for smart and mobile supply chain solutions.

4. In 2013, North America and Europe were the largest markets for smart and mobile supply chain solutions in terms of revenue for 2013.

5. Leaders of the market include Epicor Software Corporation, IBM Corporation, Descartes Systems Group, Infor Global Solutions, GT Nexus and Kewill Systems.
