Merck and Premier will build on an existing partnership to create and test the efficacy of data-driven care solutions for at-risk patient populations.
The drugmaker and group purchasing organization will focus on two major projects: a preventative care model to address low vaccination rates and a chronic disease model for patients with type 2 diabetes and osteoporosis.
"Our expanded collaboration allows us to more effectively support health systems and clinicians that are evolving from volume to value-based models, but lack adequate prevention and wellness solutions," Mimi Huizinga, MD, Premier's chief health information office, said in a news release. "We've been working with Merck to design data-driven interventions for some of the top population health challenges facing our country, and we're eager to start testing them in the real world."
