Intermountain Healthcare will expand its Supply Chain Center, which opened in 2012, to include an additional 38,000 square feet of warehouse space and 10,000 square feet of pharmacy space by 2024.
The expansion will further streamline its medical supply and lower costs, the Salt Lake City-based health system said in a Nov. 9 news release. The Supply Chain Center currently sits on 24 acres, or more than 1 million square feet, and is intended to house bulk orders in case of emergencies, such as the COVID-19 pandemic.
"You can't have a model health system without a model supply chain organization," Bert Zimmerli, executive vice president and CFO of Intermountain, said in a statement.
