FTC to hold workshop on high drug prices

The Federal Trade Commission will hold a workshop to address high drug prices Nov. 8.

The daylong event will feature numerous panels and speakers to discuss drug pricing and the pharmaceutical supply chain.

The workshop's first session will focus on generic drugs and the obstacles preventing them from reaching the market. The second session will look at the role of middlemen in drug pricing, including pharmacy benefit manufacturers and group purchasing organizations.

The event is free and open to the public. The FTC plans to release a full agenda of speakers in the near future.
