The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has cleared Sunnyvale, Calif.-based Intuitive Surgical's da Vinci Xi surgical system, the latest upgrade to the surgical robot, according to a company news release.
Upgrades to the robot system include an overhead instrument arm designed to allow access from any position, improved visual clarity on the digital endoscope, smaller and thinner arms with new joints and greater range of mobility and longer instrument shafts allowing bigger operative reach.
