FDA approves Roche's new test to screen HIV, hepatitis in blood donations

The Food and Drug Administration approved Basel, Switzerland-based Roche's cobasMPX test to be used with the cobas 6800 and 8800 systems, according to StreetInsider.

The cobas 6800 and 8800 systems are fully automated molecular platforms used to screen blood and plasma for various traits.

The new cobas MPX test detects HIV-1 and HIV-2, hepatitis B virus and hepatitis C virus in blood donations.
