The FDA announced Sept. 18 a program designed to help patients get access to medical devices in a more timely manner.
The "Safer Technologies Program," is structured similarly to the FDA's Breakthrough Devices Program, but is designed for medical devices that target non-life-threatening conditions.
The program will work to expedite the development, assessment and review of such medical devices to make them available to patients quicker, according to the FDA's news release.
