Express Scripts saw net income increase in the third quarter of fiscal year 2017 despite a 3 percent dip in revenue, according to recent Securities and Exchange Commission filings.
The pharmacy benefits manager reported revenues of $24.7 billion in the third quarter ended Sept. 30, down from $25.4 billion in the same period last year. Express Scripts dispensed fewer prescriptions in the most recent quarter compared to the same period last year, from 347 million to 344 million.
The decrease comes as Express Scripts is slated to lose its largest client, Anthem, by 2019. The split echoes an ongoing legal battle between the two parties.
Overall, Express Scripts ended the third quarter of this year with net income of $841.7 million compared to $722.9 million in the same period last year.
Effective Oct. 25, the PBM also appointed a new CFO: James Havel.
