United Blood Services is calling on Texas residents to donate blood in the wake of Hurricane Harvey, according to the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal.
United Blood Services is a nonprofit community blood service provider for the Rio Grande Valley, west Texas and New Mexico. The company is expecting blood shortages due to injuries related to the hurricane, which hit the Texas Gulf Coast Friday night.
"As a unified blood provider, we want to ensure that blood is available to our neighbors in this time of need. If you are able, please consider donating blood," Carla Alexander, a marketing and communications manager with United Blood Services, said in a press release cited by Lubbock Avalanche-Journal.
