Arizona medical device startup finalist for $250,000 grant

Salutaris Medical Devices is one of the top 10 finalists for the spring 2016 round of the Arizona Innovation Challenge, a competitive grant program sponsored by the Arizona Commerce Authority, according to Arizona Daily Star.

Salutaris, a medical startup based in Tucson, has developed a new, minimally invasive tool for delivering radiation to the eye to treat wet age-related macular degeneration. The technology was invented by Russell Hamilton, PhD, an associate professor of radiation oncology at the University of Arizona.

Each year, the Commerce Authority provides a total of $3 million in grants to the most qualified, innovative startups to commercialize and grow their businesses.

Salutaris will find out if it receives one of those grants later this month.
