An interoperable insulin pump, a first-of-its-kind tropical disease drug & more: 4 recent FDA approvals

Four drugs or medical devices approved by the FDA since Feb. 8:

1. The FDA approved the first interoperable insulin pump, Tandem Diabetes Care t:Slim X2 insulin pump, for delivering insulin for children and adults with diabetes.

2. Egaten is the first treatment to treat fascioliasis, a rare tropical disease also called liver fluke infestation. The disease is caused by two species of parasitic flatworms that infect people after they consume its larvae in contaminated water.

3. The FDA approved a split-dosing regimen for Darzalex, a multiple myeloma treatment. The new approval allows patients to split the infusion over two consecutive days.

4. Cablivi is a injection for the treatment of acquired thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura, a rare blood disorder.
