The Association for Healthcare Resource and Materials Management sponsors a National Healthcare Supply Chain Week each October to recognize the crucial role supply chain professionals play in delivery high-quality patient care. This year, the celebration runs from Oct. 2 to Oct. 8 and is themed "supply chain: leading change, advancing healthcare."
For the SC Week 2016 Celebration Contest, AHRMM encouraged hospitals to submit a photo, along with a story that illustrates their department's contributions to the healthcare supply chain. This year's winner was Carolinas HealthCare System's Levine Children's Hospital in Charlotte, N.C. At the hospital, a materials resource management staff member partners with a clinician to maximize resources and streamline supply chain management.
The website also contains a list of ideas for how hospital leaders can honor their supply chain staff this week.
