3M Co. recalled 33,108 cases of its underbody warming blankets used to keep patients warm during surgery, according to an FDA safety alert issued Feb. 12.
The company recalled its Bair Hugger underbody blankets due to a design flaw that can hinder the product's ability to heat up during surgery.
3M notified customers of the defect Jan. 23. The company instructed healthcare providers to immediately identify and discard any Bair Hugger underbody blankets involved in the recall.
The FDA classified the recall as Class II, meaning there is a slight chance the affected product could cause serious health problems or death.
