GE files Form 10 as next step in spinning off its healthcare business

GE has filed Form 10, a form used to register securities for possible trading, with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission as part of its process to spin off GE Healthcare.

GE Healthcare will be organized into four business units: imaging, ultrasound, patient care solutions and pharmaceutical diagnostics. GE expects the spinoff to take place in the first week of 2023, according to the Oct. 11 GE news release.

The development comes as GE looks to split into three distinct companies focused on healthcare, aviation and energy.

"GE HealthCare is an established leader in large, growing markets with a global franchise that is positioned to deliver patient, customer, and shareholder value," GE chair and CEO Henry Lawrence Culp, Jr. said. "As a result of its planned spinoff, GE HealthCare will have greater focus and flexibility to serve its customers and invest in growth, and this filing is an important step on that journey."
